UltraCloudHD New Website

Name Change

UltraCloudHD has been my go to place for new movies. I would typically wait to see if Family Video would have the digital copies for $8 when they were released. Now that Family Video has closed their stores, I either need to wait for the movies to go on sale or find the new releases on UltraCloudHD.

The company recently moved to a new website and changed their name to Digital Movies Now (https://www.digital-movies-now.com/). They have a whole page explaining the change for the new site and all of the new site's improvements. The one improvement I noticed is that the listings only show available items. This was a big inconvenience for the old site when browsing the titles was that the old site could have half or more of the page showing unavailable or sold out.

I have not ordered from the new site yet. I have ordered several titles from the old UltraCloudHD site. I only had one order that I had issues with. I had purchased a few movies that were sold as "Instant Watch". For those who are not aware, "Instant Watch" is used by Walmart that will put digital movies directly into your Vudu cloud after purchase if setup properly. I have this setup and have found movies in my cloud before I make it from the checkout to my car.

The issue with my "Instant Watch" order was that someone else claimed the movies after I had. I noticed these movies were removed from my library because they were also on my wish list again. I was able to track down these titles with UltraCloudHD purchase. I contacted customer service and they were willing to do a full refund of my purchase price. Fortunately, they had the same titles in stock with codes which they sent me as I had purchased my movies during a sale. This also shows why it is good to add movies you want into a wish list in case the movies are removed for any reason. This was the only time I have had digital movies removed.

I normally avoid the "Instant Watch" title but the price difference at the time caused me to select these. Shortly after my incident, UltraCloudHD stopped doing business with that supplier and completely removed all their "Instant Watch" titles. This is why I will most likely purchase from the new site. To give you an idea of why I use this service, Wonder Woman 1984 is their current featured title expected to come out 3/30. You can purchase this title for $20 at most retailers. Digital Movies Now is offering the HD version for $13. If this was 4K/UHD, I would most likely have preorder it by now.

I want to offer a few warnings. The site specifically states that purchasing a code for one retailer does not allow you to redeem the code at another. This only affects non Movie Anywhere titles such as those from Paramount and Lionsgate. Paramount specifically allows you to redeem most codes in both Vudu and iTunes. Digital codes do say in the fine print the following:

"DIGITAL CODE IS PART OF A COMBINATION DISC + CODE PACKAGE. CODE MAY BE REDEEMED ONLY BY THE RECIPIENT OF THIS PACKAGE. CODE MAY NOT BE TRANSFERRED OR SOLD SEPARATELY FROM THIS PACKAGE."

I do not expect the movie studios to verify all redeemed codes but I did want to offer this warning so that you are aware. I appreciate that digital movie retailers like Vudu, Amazon, Google, iTunes, and even Microsoft tend to have sales of new movies where 4K/UHD can be found sometimes for $10. Older movies can go for $5 when on sale. I recommend these options when possible. Disc to digital is also a great option for older movies (not owned by Disney) on Vudu for $2.

Avengers: Endgame - Review

Movie Review - Spoiler Free I will try to keep this a spoiler free review. First, I would like to applaud Disney/Marvel for making a movie over the 2 hour limit that most movies have kept themselves to lately. The movie would have felt rushed if it was only 2 hours. The movie starts out appropriately timed to the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The movie kept you emotional invested throughout the entire movie. There was some predictability with the story but for the most part, I was able to enjoy the ride without knowing what would happen next. This to me made the movie extremely enjoyable. We get see how the characters deal with the aftermath of the Infinity War and what their options are moving forward. Each character was given their opportunity on screen during the movie. This is obviously easier to do since there are fewer characters after the events of Infinity War. I felt that many characters had an appropriate conclusion to their stories. The movie did leave me with a couple ...

Glass - Movie Review

History M. Night Shyamalan has made many movies that provide plot twists that are unusual. Unbreakable and Split are two such examples that surprisingly become part of the same universe. Unbreakable was released in 2000 by Walt Disney Studios. Split was released in 2017 by Universal Pictures. Glass is the third movie in the trilogy distributed jointly by Universal and Disney. M. Night Shyamalan’s movies were pretty reliable in the 1990s and early 2000s with movies like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village. The Last Airbender in 2010 was horrible. With a rich story from the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, M. Night managed to destroy over 8 hours of great story telling by condensing it into a 103 minute movie. Not to mention how the characters names were mispronounce throughout the film. I could spend an entire post on how that movie destroyed a live action series. My children convinced me to purchase Split. I admit at the time of this post, I have yet to...

Once Upon A Deadpool Review

Movie Ratings The current PG13 rating allows the use a limited number of profanity words during the film otherwise the film will get an R rating.  Deadpool and Deadpool 2 were both rated R mostly for the profanity used throughout the movie in place of actual dialogue. I was not a big fan of these movies coming in at an R rating as it would reopen the door for other superhero movies to go for an R rating. My personal opinion was that profanity in a superhero movie would be overused like 3D because studios believed it was the key for the movie's success at the box office. It was not. The character was. In my opinion, I believe Logan was properly done as an R movie as it did not over use profanity in the movie. Many might believe that the Deadpool movies were the first R rated superhero movies. They were not.  All three Blade movies that came out in 1998, 2002, and 2004 respectively were the first R rated superhero movies. I believe these movies were also properly done lik...
