Protecting Your Online Collection

 Protecting Your Collection

In this time of cyber crime, you want to protect your investment of digital movies. I will be focusing this page on the primary retailers that connect with Movies Anywhere. At the time of this post, I am only aware of Google and iTunes are the only two retailers that offer secondary authentication. Technically, Amazon offers a secondary authentication with the use of a pin for digital purchases. I highly recommend you use these security feature provided by Amazon, Google, and iTunes. This provides great protection for your collection and any saved credit card information that you have with the retailer.

I would not advise keeping your credit card information with a online retailer but I understand it's convenience. With that said, I will point out that users have the ability to removed their credit card information from Amazon, FandangoNow, Google, iTunes (provided you are not using Family Sharing), and Microsoft. This is convenient when one of the retailers has a sale and you want to make a quick purchase. You can remove your credit card information from Vudu but this currently requires you to contact their support to have the card removed. This is an annoying process and time consuming.

Just recently, Vudu has brought back gift cards. Under Walmart, you were able to purchase Walmart gift cards and used them in Vudu. Now under Fandango, you are now able to purchase FandangoNow gift cards. This excluded the Fandango gift cards that are for movie theaters. I will be looking into this option as Sam's Club offers FandangoNow digital gift cards at a discount and will allow me to remove my credit card information from Vudu again.

Verify Your Devices

One of the simple ways to verify no one has gotten your login information to your accounts is to verify your devices. There could be old devices that were not properly signed out before getting rid of or could be someone accessing your account that you are not aware of. At the time of this writing, Movies Anywhere has apps to watch your collection but no way to track what devices are connected. Fortunately, Movies Anywhere does not have a way to purchase movies therefore does not have any place to enter and save credit card information.

Amazon is probably one of the most popular retailers. Not only can you save a default credit card but multiple credit cards and shipping addresses. They have a variety of services that you can verify what devices are connect to them. You have to ability to remove any device you don't recognize from any service Amazon offers. They also allow you to name these devices for each service which is helpful when you are keeping track of which devices are using which service. The only issue is that the device names must be unique. As an example, you can call one device for Kindle "My Phone" but you cannot use "My Phone" as a device for Music even if it is the same device. You need to be creative like calling Kindle "My Phone Reading" and Music "My Phone MP3". This will keep the description you need for the device while making it different and more descriptive for the service it is using. You can find your Amazon devices on their website below.

FandangoNow shows you what devices are connected to your account. Unfortunately, their descriptions cannot be edited and are very basic. You do have the ability to remove devices. My example below shows both an iPhone and iPad. FandangoNow lists both at only IOS devices. You can see your FandangoNow devices using the link below.

Google does a little better job with their device names getting the information from most devices. You still do not have the ability to rename the devices to something more specific. You can remove devices you don't recognize or no longer use. The site for verifying your Google devices is below.

iTunes does not offer a website to access your devices. They do include the device list under your Settings - General - Apple ID on your iOS devices as shown below. If you click on the individual device in question, you can remove it from accessing your account.

Microsoft does provide a list of devices that access your account. The devices are descriptive and have additional details when you click on them. You can remove them if they are not recognized or devices you have gotten rid of over the years. You cannot rename them. With Microsoft, there is a very limited types of devices that will be able to access your account.

Vudu is last on my list. Yes, I am OCD and did the list alphabetically. Vudu allows you to rename the devices using your account. By default, it will simply give a description of the device and start appending numbers after it they are similar like Samsung TV and Samsung TV 2. I find it beneficial to label these as they help determine what devices may be old or new.

Avengers: Endgame - Review

Movie Review - Spoiler Free I will try to keep this a spoiler free review. First, I would like to applaud Disney/Marvel for making a movie over the 2 hour limit that most movies have kept themselves to lately. The movie would have felt rushed if it was only 2 hours. The movie starts out appropriately timed to the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The movie kept you emotional invested throughout the entire movie. There was some predictability with the story but for the most part, I was able to enjoy the ride without knowing what would happen next. This to me made the movie extremely enjoyable. We get see how the characters deal with the aftermath of the Infinity War and what their options are moving forward. Each character was given their opportunity on screen during the movie. This is obviously easier to do since there are fewer characters after the events of Infinity War. I felt that many characters had an appropriate conclusion to their stories. The movie did leave me with a couple ...

Glass - Movie Review

History M. Night Shyamalan has made many movies that provide plot twists that are unusual. Unbreakable and Split are two such examples that surprisingly become part of the same universe. Unbreakable was released in 2000 by Walt Disney Studios. Split was released in 2017 by Universal Pictures. Glass is the third movie in the trilogy distributed jointly by Universal and Disney. M. Night Shyamalan’s movies were pretty reliable in the 1990s and early 2000s with movies like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village. The Last Airbender in 2010 was horrible. With a rich story from the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, M. Night managed to destroy over 8 hours of great story telling by condensing it into a 103 minute movie. Not to mention how the characters names were mispronounce throughout the film. I could spend an entire post on how that movie destroyed a live action series. My children convinced me to purchase Split. I admit at the time of this post, I have yet to...

Once Upon A Deadpool Review

Movie Ratings The current PG13 rating allows the use a limited number of profanity words during the film otherwise the film will get an R rating.  Deadpool and Deadpool 2 were both rated R mostly for the profanity used throughout the movie in place of actual dialogue. I was not a big fan of these movies coming in at an R rating as it would reopen the door for other superhero movies to go for an R rating. My personal opinion was that profanity in a superhero movie would be overused like 3D because studios believed it was the key for the movie's success at the box office. It was not. The character was. In my opinion, I believe Logan was properly done as an R movie as it did not over use profanity in the movie. Many might believe that the Deadpool movies were the first R rated superhero movies. They were not.  All three Blade movies that came out in 1998, 2002, and 2004 respectively were the first R rated superhero movies. I believe these movies were also properly done lik...
