Vudu to be acquired by Fandango Update

Previously

If my missed my post about Fandango acquiring Vudu, you can read it here. While there may have been some cause for concern, it was not the first time that Vudu has been sold. This was the first time that buyer already had their own streaming site. So the question remained, would they maintain both sites. The final answer is:

This make sense as FandangoNow appears to be more limited with its digital collection when compared to Vudu. They are going to keep the one with the larger collection.

Perks

When Walmart owned Vudu, they allowed you to use Walmart gift card to make purchases. During the negotiations, this feature was lost. Recently, Fandango has brought back gift cards for Vudu that now includes FandangoNow gift cards. Walmart gift cards are still not accepted but at least we can now use FandangoNow gift cards. Looking for the best deals, I currently use Bing Rebates to get a percentage back from Sam's Club. I can purchase a digital FandangoNow gift card from Sam's Club for a discounted price. This gives me the best value for the price while also keeping me from just purchasing directly from my credit card.

Another reason gift cards are nice in Vudu is that you can remove them when they are empty. The main issues with Vudu payment methods is that you can remove everything but credit card information. For this, you need to contact support. This is not a hard or long process but is extremely annoying when all other purchase methods can be updated by the user. For this reason, I am very happy that usable gift cards can be readily found now.

FAQ

I forgot to include an FAQ link for the change (see link below).  The libraries will be merged into Vudu.

Avengers: Endgame - Review

Movie Review - Spoiler Free I will try to keep this a spoiler free review. First, I would like to applaud Disney/Marvel for making a movie over the 2 hour limit that most movies have kept themselves to lately. The movie would have felt rushed if it was only 2 hours. The movie starts out appropriately timed to the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The movie kept you emotional invested throughout the entire movie. There was some predictability with the story but for the most part, I was able to enjoy the ride without knowing what would happen next. This to me made the movie extremely enjoyable. We get see how the characters deal with the aftermath of the Infinity War and what their options are moving forward. Each character was given their opportunity on screen during the movie. This is obviously easier to do since there are fewer characters after the events of Infinity War. I felt that many characters had an appropriate conclusion to their stories. The movie did leave me with a couple ...

Glass - Movie Review

History M. Night Shyamalan has made many movies that provide plot twists that are unusual. Unbreakable and Split are two such examples that surprisingly become part of the same universe. Unbreakable was released in 2000 by Walt Disney Studios. Split was released in 2017 by Universal Pictures. Glass is the third movie in the trilogy distributed jointly by Universal and Disney. M. Night Shyamalan’s movies were pretty reliable in the 1990s and early 2000s with movies like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village. The Last Airbender in 2010 was horrible. With a rich story from the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, M. Night managed to destroy over 8 hours of great story telling by condensing it into a 103 minute movie. Not to mention how the characters names were mispronounce throughout the film. I could spend an entire post on how that movie destroyed a live action series. My children convinced me to purchase Split. I admit at the time of this post, I have yet to...

Protecting Your Online Collection

Protecting Your Collection In this time of cyber crime, you want to protect your investment of digital movies. I will be focusing this page on the primary retailers that connect with Movies Anywhere. At the time of this post, I am only aware of Google and iTunes are the only two retailers that offer secondary authentication. Technically, Amazon offers a secondary authentication with the use of a pin for digital purchases. I highly recommend you use these security feature provided by Amazon, Google, and iTunes. This provides great protection for your collection and any saved credit card information that you have with the retailer. I would not advise keeping your credit card information with a online retailer but I understand it's convenience. With that said, I will point out that users have the ability to removed their credit card information from Amazon, FandangoNow, Google, iTunes (provided you are not using Family Sharing), and Microsoft. This is convenient when one of the retai...
