Digital Gripe
First, I want to apologize for the delay in posting a new reviews. Had several personal things come up in January. I am hoping to do better as there have been a few movies I have seen recently that need reviewed.
MGM is the production company for this movie. Like Paramount and Lionsgate, MGM does not participate in Movies Anywhere digital locker. As such, I tend to want the disc with digital purchasing. I have waited for this movie since it came out and finally the disc with digital was on sale for $15. The digital copy was on sale for $13 so I thought $2 extra for digital with disc was a good deal.
Read the fine print. I have all my Bond movies in Vudu. Naturally, I assumed the digital copy would at least offer option between Vudu and iTunes. After ordering, I noticed the packaging specifically said for iTunes. Really! What happened to having a choice? I should have just returned it at that point but I was frustrated and tired of waiting. Lesson learned.
Review
I personally only like Sean Connery and Daniel Craig portrayal of the British agent. I think the others had too much tech that overshadowed the spy image. I waited until the movie was on sale before purchasing to watch. While I was not happy with how much I paid for it (to be explained later), I was happy with the movie.
You definitely feel for all the characters in this movie. The put a lot of story into character development even for the villain portrayed by Rami Malek, who is an amazing actor. In the end, they did a spectacular job of telling what I can only assume with be Daniel Craig's last portrayal as James Bond. I know he said he would not come back for another movie and ended up making this one but I am pretty confident he meant it this time.
While most Bond movies are pretty predicable. There are at least a few surprises in this movie. I don't think this will be the last 007 movie but I am pretty sure we will get a new casting for 007 for the next movie if they make one.
Rating
I would give this a good HD rating. It is definitely worth watching even if you are not a James Bond fan. It is definitely worth adding to your collection when it is under $10. So I way overpaid for this movie due to my frustrations with the disc only including iTunes digital. I ended up keeping the $15 purchase and followed up by purchasing the UHD digital on sale at Vudu for another $13. What was I thinking. I haven't paid those prices since I was completing my Disney Movie Club membership. I will say that the iTunes digital was UHD even though the movie was standard Blu-ray edition. I just wish these companies would join Movies Anywhere.
