New Releases - January 29, 2019

Tuesdays It is new release Tuesday with retailers offering the latest new movies and early release movies. Plus several sales this week. Digital Codes at Family Video Sad news that Family Video stores in Northwest Ohio may no longer be carrying new digital movies. Stores may be able to keep copies for customers from their limited new release selection. Check with your local store on Mondays to see what will be available. Be sure to check out their older titles that are still available. My hope of getting Reign of Supermen for $8 was dashed this week but I was able to pick up a copy form UltraCloudHD.com for around $10. New Releases Online If you have a Movies Anywhere account (see  digital locker post ), you can get digital copies of your Movies Anywhere (MA) selection from the cheapest retailer and it will go into your favorite retailers list. New releases this week include: The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (MA) - $20 HDX (Amazon, FandangoNow, Goog...

Once Upon A Deadpool Review

Movie Ratings The current PG13 rating allows the use a limited number of profanity words during the film otherwise the film will get an R rating.  Deadpool and Deadpool 2 were both rated R mostly for the profanity used throughout the movie in place of actual dialogue. I was not a big fan of these movies coming in at an R rating as it would reopen the door for other superhero movies to go for an R rating. My personal opinion was that profanity in a superhero movie would be overused like 3D because studios believed it was the key for the movie's success at the box office. It was not. The character was. In my opinion, I believe Logan was properly done as an R movie as it did not over use profanity in the movie. Many might believe that the Deadpool movies were the first R rated superhero movies. They were not.  All three Blade movies that came out in 1998, 2002, and 2004 respectively were the first R rated superhero movies. I believe these movies were also properly done lik...

New Releases - January 15, 2019

Tuesdays It will come as no surprise to those who enjoy movies that Tuesdays are special days for new movies. New releases come out every Tuesday to retailers. What some don't realize is that most digital movies are released a full 2 weeks early. Retailers call this Early Access. Crazy, a naming convention that makes sense. Each Tuesday I will note the new digital releases from retailers so you can find the best deal. Tuesdays are also when retailers update their weekly sales.  Digital Codes at Family Video All movies codes are typically HDX but on rare occasions, it is possible that you might get a UHD copy instead. New release digital movies this week at Family Video for $8 include: Halloween Goosebumps 2 The Old Man & The Gun Once Upon A Deadpool (extremely limit copies) I was able to get copy of Once Upon A Deadpool. I am planning a review later this week once I have watched it. I know it will be surprising to many who know me that I didn't see this one i...

Digital Movie Deals.

History One reason I started this blog was to share what I have learned about purchasing digital movies affordably. The first thing was to get my original DVDs and Blu-ray movies into the cloud. In the past there were different options for doing this but with retailers like Flixster and CinemaNow gone, we are left with Vudu (Walmart owned) that I don't see going anywhere anytime soon. Convert Your Old Movies In the past, Vudu had a great deal where you could convert 10 or more movies for $1 each with DVDs converting to standard definition (SD) and Blu-rays converting into high definition (HDX). This was half price from their standard conversion fee which still is $2 per disc conversion. The catch at the time was the conversion had to be done on a computer with the physical disc. The reason this was a catch was most computers did not come with a Blu-ray Disc drive. I had received a USB Blu-ray Disc drive for Christmas one year for this sole purpose of having my movies conve...
