Weekend Movie Deals - January 25, 2019

Vudu Deals

Vudu is having a $5 Raunchy Comedies movie deals this weekend. Movies include Super Troopers, DodgeBall, Easy A, Wayne's World 1-2 (per movie), Beverly Hills Cop 1-3 (per movie), 40 Days and 40 Nights, and Magic Mike with several other selections. They are also having a $8 Weekend Flash Sale with UHD and HDX movies. UHD movies include Ready Player One, The Meg, Crazy Rich Asians, Small Foot, Tag, Ocean's 8, IT, and Blade Runner 2049. HDX movies include all three Hobbits as well as several DC animated movies including Justice League Throne of Atlantis, Suicide Squad Hell to Pay (in my opinion, the best of all the Suicide Squad movies so far), and Batman The Killing Joke.

FandangoNow Deals

FandangoNow has Mission: Impossible - Fallout UHD for $10 and earlier this week it was $8. Just goes to show how prices fluctuate in a few days. The Sound of Music, Hidden Figures, Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King, and The Greatest Showman are $10 for HDX. They also have $5 HDX deals on Bruce Almighty, Terminator Salvation, and Sin City plus several others.

iTunes Deals

iTunes has Whiplash, Reservoir Dogs, Memento, and more in HDX for $5. They also have under $8 Blood in the Snow sale with Snowpiercer, Hanna, Underworld Blood Wars, Unknown, The Grey, Vertical Limit, Whiteout, The Thing (1982), Braven, Fargo, Misery, 30 Days of Night, Alien vs Predator, and The Dead Zone to name a few. Note that iTunes does not indicate if the movies are Movies Anywhere compatible so you will need to verify this with another retailer like Vudu.

UltraCloudHD Deals

UltraCloudHD codes are typically for Vudu or iTunes but several are Movies Anywhere compatible. If they are, I recommend the iTunes versions as they are typically less. New it the Under $4.95 tab with close to 500 codes. Granted many are in SD but there are still plenty of HDX versions to choose from. UltraCloudHD sells New, Early Release, Pre-Orders, current, and some past titles. I find their navigation very easy to use. If you sign up for their Newsletter, you can get 10% off your order and they typically send you a 10% discounts offer every weekend. You can also use this link (http://ultracloudhd.refr.cc/jasondunn) to get 10% off now. If you are planning to get a digital movie that may be hard to find now or when it comes out, this is the place I have come.

For those looking to add Once Upon A Deadpool to their collection (I am talking to you, Stephanie, my only official follower to the site), UltraCloudHD has the in stock for $10 with a limit of 1 per customer. They are also taking pre-orders for Aquaman, Bumblebee, Creed II (my copy is already ordered), Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Spider-man Into The Spider-Verse, and The Grinch. I am very tempted to make some pre-orders this weekend. Be sure to note which retailer you are purchasing from and if you are doing the Early Release or the Release Day copy. Early Release is typically $2 more. In my experience, Release Day copies are typically sent out a few days to a week earlier than the actual release day.

Reminder

Not all the movies on sale this weekend are Movies Anywhere compatible but if they are at your retailer of choice, be sure to pickup the ones you need for your collection before the sales are over. Microsoft, Google, and Amazon still have their weekly sales going on but generally do not have weekend sales like the three listed.

TV series can be Ultraviolet compatible which will allow them to be shared between Vudu and FandangoNow. I would love to see Movies Anywhere include shows as I have a few in Amazon but most are in Vudu.

Did I miss any movies or sales you wanted? Add to the comments to so other's don't miss the deals either.

Avengers: Endgame - Review

Movie Review - Spoiler Free I will try to keep this a spoiler free review. First, I would like to applaud Disney/Marvel for making a movie over the 2 hour limit that most movies have kept themselves to lately. The movie would have felt rushed if it was only 2 hours. The movie starts out appropriately timed to the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The movie kept you emotional invested throughout the entire movie. There was some predictability with the story but for the most part, I was able to enjoy the ride without knowing what would happen next. This to me made the movie extremely enjoyable. We get see how the characters deal with the aftermath of the Infinity War and what their options are moving forward. Each character was given their opportunity on screen during the movie. This is obviously easier to do since there are fewer characters after the events of Infinity War. I felt that many characters had an appropriate conclusion to their stories. The movie did leave me with a couple ...

Glass - Movie Review

History M. Night Shyamalan has made many movies that provide plot twists that are unusual. Unbreakable and Split are two such examples that surprisingly become part of the same universe. Unbreakable was released in 2000 by Walt Disney Studios. Split was released in 2017 by Universal Pictures. Glass is the third movie in the trilogy distributed jointly by Universal and Disney. M. Night Shyamalan’s movies were pretty reliable in the 1990s and early 2000s with movies like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village. The Last Airbender in 2010 was horrible. With a rich story from the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, M. Night managed to destroy over 8 hours of great story telling by condensing it into a 103 minute movie. Not to mention how the characters names were mispronounce throughout the film. I could spend an entire post on how that movie destroyed a live action series. My children convinced me to purchase Split. I admit at the time of this post, I have yet to...

Once Upon A Deadpool Review

Movie Ratings The current PG13 rating allows the use a limited number of profanity words during the film otherwise the film will get an R rating.  Deadpool and Deadpool 2 were both rated R mostly for the profanity used throughout the movie in place of actual dialogue. I was not a big fan of these movies coming in at an R rating as it would reopen the door for other superhero movies to go for an R rating. My personal opinion was that profanity in a superhero movie would be overused like 3D because studios believed it was the key for the movie's success at the box office. It was not. The character was. In my opinion, I believe Logan was properly done as an R movie as it did not over use profanity in the movie. Many might believe that the Deadpool movies were the first R rated superhero movies. They were not.  All three Blade movies that came out in 1998, 2002, and 2004 respectively were the first R rated superhero movies. I believe these movies were also properly done lik...
